No Eternal Return

about

Existentialist country-pop, what'll they think of next

lyrics

You know I did descry a mayfly
A-fluttering on his way
Then I did bemoan the measly mention
Of the brevity of my day

The one becomes much like another
So rarely can they be discerned
And so, though it’s all such a bother
I make that Eternal Return

I make that Eternal Return
Like Sisyphus with his stone
Time’s the fire in which we burn
When I die hope I’m not all alone

I sit myself down by the campfire
Sing songs of them old happy days
But it feels rather like a funeral pyre
Long gone are those mythical ways

We tune that old geetar and banjo
We polish the brass and the horn
But once we are done we come back to
That same old Eternal Return

We make that Eternal Return
Like Sisyphus with his stone
Time’s the fire in which we burn
When I die hope I don't die alone

I mused upon all these conceptions
I pondered and puzzled away
I realized they were deceptions
‘Cause each day is your final day

I came to a large recognition
I realized that I’d better learn
O slave, seek your own abolition
‘Cause there is no Eternal Return

There is no eternal return
We’re not Sisyphus with his stone
Time’s the fire in which we burn

When you die, hope that you don't die alone
